Course Aims and Objectives

Aims
The aim of this course is to provide professionals in the IT industry with a course of study in designing, planning, and implementing security as part of a secure computing environment and integrates industry certification in these fields.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, graduates will posses:

  • skills in the design, implementation and management of secure computer networks
  • certification from one of the following:
      • Microsoft
      • Check Point
      • Cisco
      • CompTIA
  • higher order network design knowledge and skills
  • an informed and reflexive perspective on IT Security issues
  • problem-solving skills and methodologies when troubleshooting and documenting complex computing problems
  • the ability to analyse complex client business security requirements and select appropriate solutions
  • skills in the development of leading edge security solutions that meets customer business objectives for functionality and performance

Course structure
To graduate with the Graduate Certificate, students must satisfactorily complete 4 subjects from the Master of Information Systems Security, two of which must be industry certification subjects (industry certification subjects are subjects that start with the prefix ‘ITI’).   For a full list of the subjects available in the Master of Information Systems Security, click on the industry stream that you are interested in:
